Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology Graduate University (OIST) offers a fully-funded, 5 year PhD program in a choice of over 55 different labs covering many science and technology disciplines such as Chemistry, Ecological and Environmental Sciences, Marine Sciences, Mathematical and Computer Sciences, Molecular, Cell and Developmental Biology, Neuroscience and Physics.

Located on the island of Okinawa, Japan, the language of instruction and research at OIST is in English. Students benefit from small faculty to student ratios, access to cutting edge research and laboratory equipment with world renowned faculty.

An individually customised program of studies includes laboratory rotations and a selection of courses which provides preparation for thesis research that commences in the second year. In addition to established courses there are opportunities for independent study with world-class faculty members who provide teaching at the most advanced levels, and participation in world-renowned OIST international workshops as part of the program.

OIST offers at least 2 admissions workshops in Okinawa each year for shortlisted applicants to enter in September. Applicants should apply with their transcripts, letters of reference, statement of intent and CV.
